We just had a great run on the Kokatahi, nearly 10 years since the last one on Als birthday. That one took nearly 12hours, with a team of Arnd, Scorshi, Corkboy,Al and John Mason.
This trip took 6 hours, with local guide Dave Kwant helping cut down on scouts, and we were able to run the Carnage gorge( a 2 hour portage).
The river had many changes since my last trip, but the biggest drops remained the same.Carnage gorge being runnable was a huge bonus, saving 2 hours of vertical bush bashing.
This is our closest hardcore heli run to Hoki, and is close to pilot Bruces house , so is a bit cheaper, so you can spend the money you save having a beer in the Kokatahi pub after!!
